The evening began with Rachel, Leanne and Louise taking Louisa around the building along with some other guests to do baseline tests within each of the rooms before the investigation went live on air.
This involves taking the temperature readings around each of the rooms using our Digital Readout Laser Temperature Sensors before the investigation started and noting the results on the floor plans of the building.
Neil Davis had a video camera set up throughout the whole night on the Bottom floor of the building with a dictaphone hanging on the tripod.
Spirit Cheshire had live webcams running throughout the broadcast for the public to view the vigil as it happened, we also had dictaphones and video cameras distributed around the building on tripods recording the event.
Numerous other people who attended the investigation were using their own digital cameras and equipment too.
The first part of our call outs were done by Rachel of the Spirit team with lights on but nothing happened.
Neil turned out the lights then Rachel carried on calling out and also asked some questions and leaving a short gap between each.
We didn’t hear anything so decided to change from a female caller to a male, Kev Walker did some calling out to see if we would get more of a response to a male voice.
Louise thought she heard voices upstairs on the top floor where Jason of the Spirit team was based watching the Spirit Cheshire live webcams.
We tried contacting Jason via Walkie Talkie to ask if it was him but he had his radio turned down, Louise had to go upstairs and ask him but as he was running the webcams and using headphones he had his walkie talkie turned down and was on his own on the top floor so had nobody to talk to anyway.
At one point Drew confirmed that he had detected some unusual noises coming from the boom microphone that was being used to pick up all that was going on, we continued by calling out for the noises to return but they didn’t.
We moved further down the corridor, Rachel held out her hand whilst having some photos taken to see if there was any energy around her but there was a lot of dust from us all moving around the building so we cannot determine what the anomalies were on some of the photos.
During a break from calling out, Neil Davis did a short interview with Phil Jones about what had he had been experiencing, if anything, up to now also his thoughts so far.
Neil took the cat radio on a music break while we all moved to the ground floor of the barony building.
After the break Kev Walker kicked of the second part of the investigation on the ground floor by asking if there was anybody around that wanted to make contact.
He was very patient and gave the investigation a calming atmosphere.
Leanne of the Spirit team took turns doing call outs with Kev and Steve to try and get some activity started. Small taps were heard but the team were not sure what it could have been, there are obviously a lot of pipe work and large radiators around from when the building was a hospital which could be a factor.
There is also a canteen on the ground floor from which the boom was picking up some background noise due to the refrigeration units running. A lot of calling out was done by Steve, Kev and Leanne, with some quiet noises being heard but not always picked up by the microphones.
Steve had some sense of being touched on his neck and also he said it seemed like something was trying to move the boom microphone that he was holding.
Halfway through the night Jason and Drew were on the top floor of the building discussing the webcam broadcast when they both heard a whistle behind them that they could not explain so Drew came down to the first floor to ask who was whistling. Our group on the first floor had whistled throughout the night so we couldn’t definitely say it wasn’t us but as Drew was asking if it was us it did it again quite loud and as he was looking at us we could say that the whistle right then wasn’t us, again this we cannot explain. We had the video camera facing us at that time when Drew came down to speak to us so hopefully we may be able to find the explanation for the whistle on the camera footage.
The ground floor group moved into a disused office and called out for a while and had a tapping noise which was heard by the group in there and was also heard over the live show feed.
Drew was monitoring the show live feed throughout the night and heard some form of tapping on the boom microphone on a few occasions. Whilst on the ground floor there were some whistles made to try and get any spirits to copy, there was what seemed like a possible response whistles but on other floors up by the other team members, this caused quite a bit of confusion as the whistling had now been heard across all floors and we could not work out exactly where it was now coming from.
We split then into 3 groups so we could cover all floors as we could hear some noises but couldn’t quite work out what floor they were coming from, we needed all areas covered.
Neil finished the night with all the presenters and the team in the studio to have a quick chat about the night’s events.
Obviously because it was a live Halloween event we had a mix of music and vigils which made the night very interesting, when the music was on we had time for a break and to chat about the next best places to move to quickly. |
